Four Cases of Biliary Dyskinesia Diagnosed by Biliary Manometry

Abstract
ncter of Oddi (SO) dyskinesia is a functional motor disorder that may result in a hypertonic sphincter with altered motility and impedance to the passage of bile into the duodenum. consequently, impedance to bile flow causes an increase in
intraductal
pressures, subsequent dilatation of the ductal system and stimulation of sensory fibers in the duct wall resulting in pain It is sometimes impossible to differentiate patients with true biliary dyskinesia from those patients with papillary
stenosis,
which is a structural narrowing of SO segment.
Dyskinesia can oftentimes be distinguished from stenosis by use of ERCP manometric pressure recording of sphincter of Oddi motor activity and subsequent administration of drugs and hormones that relax smooth muscle.
We report 4 cases of biliary dyskinesia diagnosed by use of ERCP manometric pressure recording.
